Limescale protection systems

SOFTENED WATER FOR PRIVATE USE

In fact, we only consume 3–5% of our daily drinking water requirement as ‘food’.

Soft water improves your quality of life. It feels noticeably soft on your skin. No limescale stains in the kitchen and bathroom, pipes without limescale deposits, protection for household appliances such as washing machines, dishwashers, etc. Softening! Why, actually?

  • Because we actually consume only 3–5% of our daily drinking water requirement as ‘food’.

  • The lion's share is used as service water. It is used for washing dishes, showering, washing, etc.

If drinking water is used as raw water for softening, the softened water remains high-quality drinking water and complies with the requirements of the Drinking Water Ordinance. When softening well water, approval as drinking water by the health authority is required after a water analysis has been carried out.

SOFTENED WATER FOR COMMERCIAL USE

Hard water reduces the service life of water-based systems and components. It diminishes the effectiveness of processes, particularly due to:

  • Lime deposits, which lead to build-up and a reduction in pipe diameters,

  • Corrosion on metal pipes and components,

  • Formation of protective spaces for germs and support for the formation of biofilms through limescale deposits,

  • Deterioration of heat transfer, e.g. in heat exchangers, leading to increased energy costs.

We supply water softening systems for private and commercial use up to 50 m³/h as

  • Compact systems

  • Individual installations

  • Dual systems

ION EXCHANGE

Ion exchange is a proven method for removing unwanted ions from water – for example, for softening or desalination. Dissolved ions such as calcium and magnesium are replaced by more harmless ions such as sodium. Special ion exchange resins are used, which act selectively against certain ions. Once the resin is saturated, it is regenerated and can be used again. SHP Wassertechnik GmbH offers tailor-made solutions for water treatment with modern ion exchange systems.

PHYSICAL TREATMENT

Physical water treatment is a process for reducing limescale deposits without the use of chemical additives. The targeted use of magnetic or impulse technology influences the structure of the minerals dissolved in the water. As a result, less limescale is deposited in pipes and appliances, and instead remains in the water in a flowable form. This environmentally friendly method maintains water quality while protecting domestic plumbing. SHP Wassertechnik GmbH offers effective physical systems for domestic and commercial applications.

CATALYTIC TREATMENT

Catalytic water treatment uses special reaction surfaces to remove dissolved substances such as iron or manganese from the water without chemical additives. The unwanted components are converted into an insoluble form by catalysis and can then be filtered out without any problems. This process is efficient, environmentally friendly and low-maintenance. It is particularly suitable for treating well water and raw water. SHP Wassertechnik GmbH offers high-performance systems for catalytic treatment – tailored to individual requirements.
